Тема уроку: Personality

  Lesson topic: Personality
Aim: - to stimulate using of vocabulary.
Instructional: to develop creative thinking, reading, listening and communicative skills.
Developing: to practise describing people's appearance and character.
Educational: to educate correct attitude to human relations.
Equipment: the textbook Solutions Pre-Intermediate, Unit 1, р.4, a CD player, cards.
Type of the lesson: combined lesson.




Procedure
I. Greeting
T: Good morning, everybody! I`m glad to see you! How are you today?
Cl: Good morning, teacher! We are glad to see you too! We are fine, thank you.
2. Warm-up
Students work in pairs. Teacher asks them to work individually first. Students note down two adjectives which describe their own personality and two adjectives about their partner's personality. They have a minute. Students compare their notes in pairs and  write the adjectives on the board.
Honest, ungrateful, interesting, generous, clever, spoiled, skeptical, mean, narrow-minded.
II. The main part of the lesson
Exercise 1 page 4
Students are focused on the photographs. They should describe the characters using the prompts.
Exercise 2 page 4
Students can work in pairs during 1 minute.
Exercise 3 page 4    Listen to the recording and check the answers.
Pupils listen to the recording again stopping after each pair of adjectives. Teaches asks: questions: Does a mean/generous person give expensive presents? Who tells jokes - a serious person or a funny person? etc.  Pupils go on listening to each sentence describing a personality type (for example, “A person who is happy”). Then they choose the word that describes that personality type (“cheerful” in this example).

T: How many adjectives are there? How many people are you going to hear about? How many adjectives will you need?
Adjectives: lazy, impatient, rude, shy.
Exercise 5 page 4
T: Choose three people whom you know well and make notes about their personalities. You should not write full sentences. Say your descriptions in pairs without saying the mate`s name. It should include some of the person's typical behaviour so that the rest of the class can guess who it is. Guess who has been described.
WRITING. "PERSONA POEM"
T: Finally, we will write a creative piece of work called "Persona Poem". Look at the blackboard where you can see the scheme of this verse. This is an eight-line poem.
Write a poem about one of your classmate.
Line 1 : first name or nickname of the person in the poem.
Line 2: 4 adjectives which describe the person.
Line 3: describing an attitude towards the person, X of Y formula.
Line 4: who loves ____ , ____ and ___ = 3 things the person loves.
Line 5: who is afraid of ____ , ____ and = 3 things.
Line 6: who wants to see ____ , ____ and = 3 things.
Line 7: resident of = place/time/concept.
Line 8: surname of the person in the poem.
