2-Б класі
Тема уроку: Music




                                                                                 

Aim: - to stimulate using of vocabulary.
Instructional: to develop creative thinking, reading, presentation skills, listening and communicative skills.
Developing: to train imagination, initiative.
Educational: to develop pupils’ outlook, to develop positive attitude towards music.
Equipment: the textbook Oxford Team 2 p.14, a CD player, Power Point presentation, cards.
Type of the lesson: combined lesson.

Procedure
1. Greeting
Good morning, pupils!
How are you?
Who is absent today?
2. Warm-up
T: Do you like music?
Who’s your favorite superstar?
Would you like to be a star?
What kind of music do you like to listen to?
T: Let’s do Brainstorming. What words do you associate with the word ‘music’?
 









3. Aims
T:  The topic of today’s lesson is “Music”. Well, at today’s lesson we’re talking about people who want to be famous. You’ll read a text. By the end of the lesson you’ll be able to ask and answer the questions about pop idols. You will also enrich your vocabulary and learn more information about music styles.

II. The main part of the lesson.
T: Let`s watch a presentation about some of the music styles.

The Latin pop star Ricky Martin (born Enrique Martin Morales) became a professional singer at the age of 13 and went on to become an international superstar. His song La Copa de la Vida was the official song of the World Cup in 1998. After making four Spanish- language albums, he recorded his first English language album (entitled Ricky Martin) in 1999.
Look at the photo. Teacher asks students if they recognize the singer (Ricky Martin); asks a few students if they like Ricky Martin. Why? / Why not?
Teacher: Joanna has written about Ricky Martin because he is her favourite superstar. Asks students: What is a superstar? {A star who is known and tremendously popular all over the world.)
Teacher reads the questions with the class, checks for any difficulties with new vocabulary (for example: nationality, career, successful).
Students read the text individually and answer the questions. Teacher asks them to compare answers in pairs.
Listen to Ricky`s song  ''Living la vida loca''.

Pupils fill in each  gap  the words and listen  to  the teacher`s dictation  of these words. A student who has a line down or horizontally should say ''Bingo''.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The American tennis player Venus Williams has won many professional singles titles (Wimbledon, the US Open, Olympic gold) and several doubles titles with her sister Serena.
The actor Jackie Chan was born in Hong Kong. He trained for a career with the Peking Opera, excelling in martial arts, before becoming a stunt man and then a popular kung-fu actor.
The Cuban singer Gloria Estefan began her career in the group Miami Sound Machine, originally singing in Spanish. In 1989 she went solo, producing albums in both Spanish and English.
Mel Gibson, the Australian actor, has starred in many successful films, including Mad Max, Lethal Weapon and Braveheart.
The American tennis player Pete Sampras has dominated male tennis since the early 1990s, winning the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open several times.

Look at the photos (A-E). Teacher asks: Why are they famous? (A Venus Williams - tennis player; B Gloria Estefan - singer; C Jackie Chan - kungfu actor; D Mel Gibson - actor;E Pete Sampras - tennis player.)
Teacher: You are going to listen to four speakers talking about their favourite superstars. For each speaker, you have to identify the star and write the correct letter (A-E) in the box. One star is not described.
Teacher plays the first speaker on the cassette, asks students who the speaker is talking about
(C - Jackie Chan). Ask: How do you know? and elicits words from the recording such as film star. Hong Kong, karate, etc.)
Teacher plays the three other speakers on the cassette, pausing after each one. Students match the speakers with the superstars.
The cassette is played a second time. Students check their answers.
Who is the speaker?
On the board, the teacher writes the names of the four speakers from the recording in Exercise 2: Mehmet, Yvonne, Maria, Eddie. Teacher asks students to listen again and match the names with the following statements.
This person's favourite film is 'Braveheart. (Yvonne)
This person talks about two superstars. (Eddie)
This person wants to be a good fighter. (Mehmet)
This person is from Thessaloniki. (Maria)
Game «Guess the track».  Pupils listen to  a short  piece of music and guess the type of music:
1.     Rap
2.     Jazz
3.     Blues

Teacher: You are going to ask a partner about his or her favourite pop star. Read the questions and take a few minutes to think about your answers. Teacher demonstrates the activity with a confident student.
In pairs, students ask and answer the questions. Teacher goes around and listens, correcting as necessary.
